The Karanga, A Welcome Call

In Ruma Tahi we have been learning about maraes and we did some research
on certain things that happen on the marae. This is what I found out.

The karanga is a call to welcome people

The karanga is only done by women to welcome the manuhiri onto the marae.
The karanga is also done by the women from the manuhiri.
The karanga could start as a welcome or greeting but can end as a greeting to
the dead.

Karanga = a call

Manuhiri = visitors
